5 Inspirational Pokemon GO Stories You Need to Read

15-minutes read.

Pokemon GO has been swarming the international news for the past couple of days. With its official launch last July 6, 2016, in the US and in Australia, aspiring Pokemon trainers around the world clamor to get their hands on one of the most anticipated mobile application EVER.

As Erik Kain of Forbes.com said in his article,

Pokemon GO is more than just a major game release. It’s a phenomenon…People who don’t normally play games, and who don’t play Pokemon games, are talking about Pokemon GO.

Unfortunately for aspiring trainers outside these lucky countries, the app is unavailable for download in the app store. Even so, this can’t dampen the spirits of Pokemon trainers who are willing to go great lengths to capture tScreenshot (318)heir very first Pokemon.

A lot have tried downloading the apk file or tweaking their GPS location. As for the more determined ones (and quite desperate haha), they created their own virtual pokemons.

I admit I’m one of them.

I have downloaded the apk but aside from creating my character, there was nothing else for me to do. Eventually, the servers were blocked 😦

But loneliness aside, in the 2 weeks that Pokemon GO has been launched, it proved itself not to be a mere virtual reality app. It’s an app that is bringing people together and is radically changing the mobile game landscape.

Amongst the multitudes of Pokemon GO stories I’ve read online, I’ve curated the top 5 stories that best described the inspirational power of the mobile game.

Hope you enjoy reading them as much as I did!

“Don’t judge a book by its cover.”

This is a mantra that I’m sure everyone is familiar with but only a few take to heart. I’m guilty of creating judgments in my head. Let’s face it, the first impression definitely lasts and it takes quite some time and effort before you can change your perspective on a certain person.

There are, however, other moments when you cast your opinions aside and just jump into it. Once you jump, you either find yourself in an “I knew it” position, or you find something beautiful and pat yourself on the back for taking that plunge.

This guy took the plunge, taking Pokemon GO as a bridge to a new-found friendship.

In the end, it was all worth it.

Tinder has been very popular for all the single ladies (and men) who seek to find the perfect person that can complete the missing piece.

Step aside, Tinder.

Pokemon GO brings this “love adventure” on a whole new level as Pokemon Trainers are finding their missing piece by going out and catching adorable Pokemons together.

Pokemon has been around for about 20 years. It’s practically the icon of childhood for many.

With the release of the Pokemon GO app comes also the rush of childhood memories.

For some, these are memories of having your friends come over to play Pokemon in the play station,

or the memory of playing Pokemon cards, dynamically acting out your Pokemon,

or just simply binge watching the Pokemon series at home.

For this guy though, Pokemon was the binding force between him and his father. Ever since he was little, Pokemon has always been their bonding time.

Together with the Pokemon GO launch, comes the exciting adventure for him and his father. Catching Pokemons together, battling, training, meeting fellow trainers.

Pokemon GO is a dream come true for this father and son adventure.

The only problem was, his father was sick, terribly sick.

I’m not saying that every single one in this world is apathetic to the people around them but there are a lot of people who are.

A lot turn a blind eye on certain social issues because well, it’s easier that way. If we don’t turn a blind eye, we tend to point fingers on who to blame. Why? Because it’s easier that way.

So, in a world ruled by apathy, simple stories of Good Samaritans bring so much light and inspiration.

Who would have thought that Pokemon GO can produce Good Samaritans as well?

Read this story of this guy’s innocent, thoughtful, and inspiring act of kindness.

Last night this guy showed up with free snacks and cold drinks for all the other Pokemon Go players at our park. He said it was for everyone coming together and building a community. Good stories like this deserved to be shared. We cleaned up too. Thanks.

We are all afraid of taking risks.

For the single reason of self-preservation; we don’t want to get hurt, we don’t want to be judged, we don’t want to fail.

But we all have that one moment in our life that gives us the strong push to go outside our comfort zone, take risks, and experience the adventure of our lives.

For children with social issues, who are afraid to go out and make friends, Pokemon GO has become that strong push to make that adventure happen.

Read this short story of someone who works at a mental health Children’s hospital who claims that Pokemon GO is doing wonders for kids with social issues.

These stories are only a sneak peek of the bunch of inspirational Pokemon GO stories we can find online!

These make me feel even more excited for the official launch in our country! Imagine the stories Pokemon GO will continue to create once it officially launches worldwide! I hope it brings about more inspirational stories like these.

As they say, things always have two sides of a coin. There is the good side and there is the bad side. I have read some bad experiences of Pokemon GO gamers, however, I personally think that the good ones outweigh the bad ones.

So hopefully it stays like this. I hope nobody takes advantage of this wonderful game that is continuously creating great stories. I hope nobody even dares to destroy something beautiful as this.

That’s it!

Have a happy day, beautiful people!

See you tomorrow for Film Friday, featuring inspiring movie masterpieces that I recommend you include in your Weekend Movie Binge list!
